As a town with a long history, Taiping has left behind many historically significant sites over the years. These landmarks are well worth taking the time to explore, offering a rich glimpse into the past.

3 Century-Old Churches

Taiping is home to three century-old churches, each with its own unique architectural charm. These include the Gothic-style All Saints' Church and two Romanesque-style churches, the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and St. Louis Church. These magnificent churches not only reflect the glorious history of the ancient city but are also considered treasured heritage sites.

Perak Museum

The Taiping Perak Museum (Malay: Muzium Perak) is a public museum located at the intersection of Jalan Muzium (Museum Road) and Jalan Taming Sari (Main Road) in Taiping, Perak, Malaysia. It is the oldest museum in Malaysia, established in 1883. The Perak Museum is one of the 47 national cultural heritage buildings in Malaysia, showcasing a rich collection of historical artifacts and exhibits.

Taiping Landmark Clock Tower

Built in 1881, the ancient clock tower has a history of 143 years. It is not only a guardian of time in the Rain Town but also one of Taiping's major landmarks. The clock tower, with its British architectural style, has served various roles over the past century, including a police station, fire station, WWII execution site, and commodity exchange. Today, it is a must-visit tourist attraction in Taiping.

Taiping Chang Chun Pu (Dr. Sun Residence)

Taiping Chang Chun Pu is a British-style building, one of only two or three such villas in early Taiping. This villa was the residence of Mr. Sun Yat-sen during his revolutionary activities in Southeast Asia. Nearby, you can smell the aroma of coffee from Malaysia's oldest coffee factory, Antong Coffee Mill, which has a history of 91 years. This unique combination makes it a dual attraction in Taiping.

Muzium Matang Kota Ngah Ibrahim

Muzium Matang Kota Ngah Ibrahim is a historical castle that blends Malay and British architectural styles. Built in 1856 by Ngah Ibrahim, son of Long Jaafar who discovered tin, it served as a residence, administrative center, and witnessed the Larut Wars and World War II. Despite its turbulent history, the castle remains well-preserved and was renamed "Matang Museum" in 1987. The museum showcases numerous local exhibits, illustrating Taiping's history through different eras, offering visitors a glimpse into the past.

Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Built in 1875, it is the oldest Catholic church in Malaysia and one of Taiping's 34 first heritage sites, with a history of 149 years.

All Saints' Church

Malaysia's first Anglican church, built in 1887. Its Gothic architectural style is unique and beautiful, reflecting deep historical significance and cultural value.

St. Louis Church

Built in 1899, it has a history of 125 years. Its unique Romanesque architectural features give it a grand and solemn impression.
